Understanding the challenge
Building with Nature (BwN) is an organisation whose mission is to make high-quality green infrastructure integral to placemaking in the UK. They recognise developers and local authorities for their exceptional projects implementing "green infrastructure." But, their accreditation process relied heavily on manual and resource-intensive methods, involving disconnected tools like spreadsheets, word documents, and Dropbox. These limitations made accurate reporting and scaling difficult, hindering BwN's ability to accommodate the growing demand for their services. BwN needed a purpose-built application that could effectively manage the accreditation process. They envisioned an intuitive, searchable, and automated solution that would save users time, enhance satisfaction, and enable seamless scalability for managing an increasing number of projects.
Designing and Implementing a Robust MVP
We engaged with BwN to define their core challenges and identify where we could begin scaling the accreditation system. To optimise limited initial funding, we divided the design and development into multiple phases. The first phase concentrated on rapidly delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to begin adding value as soon as possible.
Our Toolset
The objectives for this project phase were:
Design an intuitive user experience
By employing user-centric design principles, we aimed to enhance user satisfaction and minimise the time required to manage projects effectively.
Provision of a searchable database
We developed a comprehensive and searchable database, empowering the BwN team to generate accurate reports on projects efficiently.
Automation for efficiency
We integrated automated testing and systems documentation to ensure organisational and systems redundancy, enabling smooth operations and minimising errors.
Security and data validation
Our system design incorporated robust security measures and mechanisms for data validation and verification, ensuring the integrity and reliability of the accreditation process.
